1976–2026: For 50 years, SFEL has been conceptualizing, designing, and manufacturing lighting solutions in France. Half a century of industrial history, innovation, and commitment to our customers and partners.
50 Years of a French Industrial Adventure
The history of SFEL began in 1976 in Saulgé, in the Vienne department.
Since then, our company has grown and evolved in step with the changes in the lighting industry, while remaining true to its core values: recognized technical expertise, French manufacturing, and a commitment to providing tailored solutions for every project.
From prototypes to mass production, and from standard lighting fixtures to custom designs, our teams have developed expertise that combines industrial know-how, creativity, and a commitment to quality.
50 years of experience also means 50 years of overcoming challenges, collaborating on projects, and building lasting relationships.
A day to celebrate our history together
On September 17, 2026, we were pleased to welcome customers, partners, employees, and local stakeholders to our Saulgé plant to celebrate this anniversary.
A day of connections, discoveries, and sharing that allowed us to celebrate our history, our professions, and above all, the women and men who contribute every day to SFEL’s growth.
This event also provided an opportunity to thank all those who have stood by us for so many years and who have contributed to the success of this collective endeavor.
50 years of history, and already looking toward the future
The challenges facing the lighting industry have changed dramatically over the past five decades. Energy efficiency, visual comfort, sustainability, repairability, and resource management are now at the heart of lighting projects.
These challenges all fuel our thinking and guide the development of our solutions.
Our vision for the coming years remains true to our core values: to design high-performance, sustainable lighting fixtures, prioritize manufacturing in France, and support our customers as their needs evolve.
These 50 years, therefore, are not just a look back at the journey we’ve taken. They also mark the beginning of a new chapter.
50 years of light. 50 years of expertise. And many more projects yet to be imagined together.
Thank you to everyone who is part of SFEL's history.
